Josh Hutcherson was auctioning a dinner with himself to benefit the ‘The Friends of Abby Marsh’. Five people won dinner with him for 12500. Here’s an update on the event from WCPO…
Friends, family and classmates held a fundraiser called “Marsh Madness” for car accident victim Abby Marsh.
Marsh, 17, was paralyzed from the shoulders down after she was involved in a car accident in May.
“We have a lot of friends backing us in both prayer and support. you can see in the turnout here tonight,” Abby’s father Dan Marsh said. “There’s lot’s of obstacles in front of us. This will help offset it somewhat.”
Abby’s dad said she is doing remarkably well since the car accident, but her progress is slow. But, he says her attitude couldn’t be better.
“It started out where she couldn’t move anything, and now she’s moving her arms which is awesome,” Abby’s friend Paige Barrett said. “She is happy, not down, her spirits are really high. She loves the support with everyone.”
Even local “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson pitched in and helped.
“He didn’t know her personally,” Barrett said. “He wanted to get in and help her. Producers donated 12 baskets, donated by him. It was really sweet.”
Five people also won a dinner with Hutcherson. He raised $12,500 which went to Abby’s family.
“We’re in the process of changing our house right now, making it accessible to Abby,” Dan Marsh said. “The first floor of the house is gutted, changes in plumbing, the duct work, as well as electrical in line.”
