CANNES has seen another project of Hemsworth’s projects get picked up. According to DEADLINE….

Relativity Media has set The Hunger Games‘ Liam Hemsworth to star in Aurora Rising. Scripted by A Man Apart‘s Christian Gudegast, the film is produced by Emjag Productions’ Alexandra Milchan and Film 360’s Scott Lambert and Guymon Casady along with Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Antonio Moura Santos Jr. will executive produce.

Hemsworth will play a Southern California surfer turned military fighter pilot who, after acing a complicated and messy first combat mission, gets recruited to be part of an elite team to test the next generation of aircraft. This happens just as an international conflict begins to escalate. ROAR, WME and Morris And Yorn rep Hemsworth. Gudegast is repped by WME and 360 Management. This is his second project with Relativity where he will also script and direct the bank heist drama Den Of Thieves. Relativity’s Jason Barhydt will oversee the project for the studio.

Josh Hutcherson talked with Twist Magazine about his upcoming movie EPIC. Personally, I hate cartoons, but I will see it, because the ads all over LA for the Love bug.

We just chatted with Josh Hutcherson, who stars as Nod in the upcoming animated movie Epic. He gave us the inside scoop on the film, which features an all-star cast including Amanda Seyfried, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler and Beyoncé. Why should Twist readers go see Epic?
I think one of the things that would draw a lot of audiences is the look of the movie. It’s so beautiful — it’s cool to see Mother Nature come to life on another level. And it’s a coming of age story. Your readers are at that age [where] they’re trying to find themselves and that’s what my character Nod is going through. He’s trying to find his place and how he fits in the world, so it’s very relatable.

What makes you similar or different from your character?
I think I share that central, kind of free-spirit attitude with Nod — and doing things your own way. But I think [Nod is] a little irresponsible. I’ve been an actor since I was nine years old, I’ve had a lot more responsibilities that kids don’t have. So I’ve grown to luckily be pretty responsible, so we’re pretty different in that respect.

If we took you and planted you into the world of Epic how would you do?
Not too bad. I love being outside; I love the wilderness; I love camping and hiking and as a kid, I always used my imagination to create other worlds outside. I think that I’d fit in to the Epic world quite nicely.

Taking futuristic dystopian fashion and fun to whole new levels, Lionsgate’s THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE Capitol Party at Baoli Beach on Saturday evening sponsored by COVERGIRL was this year’s hottest event at the Cannes Film Festival. Themed around 2013’s most anticipated motion-picture release, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, the party was comprised of an exclusive guest list that included the film’s stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Sam Claflin, as well as director Francis Lawrence. COVERGIRL, which celebrated its partnership with the film at the event, provided touchups to party guests. Acclaimed DJ Snake kept everyone in the groove while a platoon of models remained in constant circulation clad in “Capital Chic” attire.

Lionsgate spent five months planning the exclusive affair paying close attention to every detail from importing Capitol portraits for the event, to providing specially coded tickets for each guest which included a pin for them to wear granting them access. The night rivaled the grandest celebrations hosted by President Snow.

Hunger Games co-writer Billy Ray has a new project exploring the phenomenon of disappearing airplanes (think Lost or the Bermuda Triangle), according to CinemaBlend. Ray will direct Departure, a sci-fi romance based on his own original screenplay, for his third feature. Studio Good Universe is fast tracking the project, so casting announcements should be made before too long.

Here’s more information on Ray’s previous work and his inspiration for Departure:

Ray’s previous films were 2007’s politically charged Breach and 2003’s Shattered Glass, a tense drama focused on the Stephen Glass article fabrication, which make a sci-fi romance kind of an unpredictable choice.

According to the press release, Ray’s script was inspired by Martin Caidin’s 1994 book Ghosts of the Air: True Stories of Aerial Hauntings. A brilliant FAA investigator in Miami obsesses over a 727 that inexplicably disappears, only to reappear in the same spot ten minutes later. Miami becomes a hub of mysterious aircraft activity that takes a personal turn when the investigator’s wife is on one of the planes involved.

What do you think of Departure thus far?
